Hi Frederick and Philip: Nice to meet you at PGA Village. We are back in Toronto now. You made 2 comments about the USA that I want to clarify. Americans are Europeans who moved to America 200 years ago. Famous cowboys, outlaws, ranchers, plantation owners, businessmen, criminals all have Europeans names. 1) Yes Americans like to think big - World Series of Baseball but what about the World Cup of Soccer - same thing. It is only recently that soccer existed outside Europe and South America. 2) Guns and Iron Bars at gas stations. Remember that the USA is only 200 years old. Hordes of Europeans tired of unemployment and religious oppression left their homeland in search of a better life. They arrived in a very, very large expanse of land mostly uninhabited. There was no infrastructure, no government, no laws, no police. These Europeans farmed, opened businesses, helped each other, fought each other, cheated each other and created the USA. The GUN was invented out of necessity by many USA companies (Colt, Smith and Wesson, Remington etc.)for use by these Europeans to protect themselves in the Wild West. There were very few guns in the Eastern USA till poor immigrants recently started using them in crime and drug deals. Then law abiding citizens bought them for safety. The USA did not invent slavery. It is as old as prostitution. Europeans observed the practice on travels to Africa, the Mid East and the Orient. One tribe would enslave another tribe and sell the slaves at the market. Enterprising Europeans bought slaves and used them as cheap labour on their plantations and farms in North America before the USA was formed. As a Canadian who has travelled the world I know that the USA is an easy target to blame for all the world's problems. The USA is a great, friendly, generous and courageous country. Canadians too - mainly liberals - have a smug attitude toward Americans. Canadians take the path of least resistance. Americans historically have started very few wars and have usually been coaxed into them by other countries because they are big. Today they are being encouraged to intercede in Darfur and if it goes wrong they will be blamed. No other country cares about the unbelievable atrocities there!! That's my take on the USA!!!
